France's Far-Right Party Picks Bardella to Succeed Le Pen
Jordan Bardella Elected as New Leader of Rassemblement National
PARIS, Nov 5 (Reuters) - France's far-right National Rally (RN) has chosen 27-year-old Jordan Bardella as its new leader, succeeding Marine Le Pen, who has led the party for over a decade.
Bardella, a rising star within the RN, was confirmed as the party's president at a congress in Paris on Saturday. He takes over the leadership of the party that has become France's most popular far-right group.
Bardella has been a vocal critic of immigration and the European Union and has pledged to continue Le Pen's hardline policies.
Le Pen, 54, has led the RN since 2011 and has seen the party grow in popularity in recent years. She has run for president three times but has never been successful.
With Bardella at the helm, the RN is likely to continue to be a major force in French politics and could pose a challenge to President Emmanuel Macron in the 2027 presidential election.
