Friday Night Kickoff: 400th Sellout Brings More Traffic to Gameday Travel

South Carolina to Face Georgia State in Historic Sellout

On Friday night, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks will host the Georgia Bulldogs in a historic sellout. The game will be the 400th sellout in Williams-Brice Stadium history and is expected to draw a crowd of over 80,000 fans. The large crowd is expected to cause significant traffic delays in the area surrounding the stadium and drivers are advised to plan accordingly.

The Gamecocks are coming off a 38-24 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores last week, while the Bulldogs are coming off a bye week. The game is expected to be a close one, and both teams will be looking to start their season with a win.

Traffic Delays Expected

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is advising drivers to expect significant traffic delays in the area surrounding Williams-Brice Stadium on Friday night. The SCDOT recommends that drivers use public transportation or carpool to the game if possible.

  • Sumter Street will be closed between College Street and Greene Street from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Public Transportation Options

The Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) offers a shuttle service to and from Williams-Brice Stadium on gamedays. The shuttle service costs $5 per person and runs from 5 p.m. to midnight.

The City of Columbia also offers a bus service to and from Williams-Brice Stadium on gamedays. The bus service costs $2 per person and runs from 5 p.m. to midnight.

There are several parking options available for fans attending the game. The cost of parking varies depending on the location of the lot.
